48 Unhoused Neighbors were Housed via AMEs in the Last Year

Accelerated Moving Events (AMEs) are designed to streamline the process of moving people experiencing homelessness into stable housing. In an AME, people experiencing homelessness complete all the steps required to secure housing – from connecting with housing providers to selecting apartments, to choosing furniture – in one day.

The Department of Family and Support Services (DFSS) is the lead coordinator for AMEs that aim to house encampment residents. DFSS held 17 encampment AME events between November 2020 and December 2022.

In the 48th ward, 48 unhoused neighbors were housed by AMEs over the last year. See the stats for two events below.

June 29, 2023 AME

  • 32 homeless agreed to participate

  • 32 homeless were matched to housing

  • 27 were housed

  • 5 were closed due to no participation by the homeless

October 31, 2023 AME

  • 28 homeless agreed to participate

  • 28 homeless were matched to housing

  • 21 were housed

  • 7 were closed due to no participation by the homeless
